Just a quick update playing a show tonight at the corkscrew with some dear friends of mine. Show starts at 8pm and goes to 11. That’s right this show goes to 11 Other acts include Jason Spencer and Ashley Milne. Hope to see everyone out.

Red wine and blues festival is this weekend!

Playing this weekend at the Red Wine and Blues festival please come out and enjoy the sun and fun the weather so far is reported to be gorgeous for the weekend and I can’t wait to see everyone out at Levy Park. This is a full band show! Welcome Gus Paredes our newest member to Petesimple he is a very accomplished Librarian oh and a darn fine trumpet player, not to mention my big brother in my college Fraternity KKY. True is is a service Fraternity and not social but it was the best darn service Fraternity in Texas! Anyhow festivities start at 12 noon until 2:30 and then the next band goes on and the festivities go til 6pm. I’m really excited about this one and hope you can come out with a friend or two.

Tickets are $35 ($45 at the door). They can be purchased at Whole Foods Markets

Gig Cancelled

Due to extenuating circumstances beyond our control (ahem hurricane Ike) The show Sunday in the Park has been canceled and will be rescheduled. Sorry folks, hope you have your creature comforts back in your lives soon ie power, water, gas and such.

Hey Gang

It’s been a while I know sorry! I’ve been burning a candle from one side and it’s time to turn my attention to the candle stick (with Mr Green, in the library). But first, let me say congrats to all of my friends for following their dreams. Dave Ransom (www.daveransom.com) has moved to Austin Texas and is making a go at music. If you have not already heard Dave’s new album “Safe From the Day” Download it from itunes or buy it directly from his site today he does not disappoint. Also my good friend Andria Miguez (www.andriamiguez.com) is moving to Oregon for whatever love brings her, which is hellishly scary and we applaud you for it (You go girl!) One last friend who is near and dear to the band is Devin Collins. He has moved back to Houston albeit an honorable discharge from his National Guard music director gig and is ready for some more Petesimple muzak along with his very colorful career as a composer and wonderful jazz cat licks.

Now onto Petesimple biz, we are playing a show in H-town the 21st of this month (September) with our wonderful friends from HAAM (haam.us) at the Dicovery Green Downtown from 3-5pm. It’s a free show on the big stage (weather permitting, check for hurricane abuse and other calamities the day of the show)

Then we are back in studio mode until we complete the new album. Some really great stuff is a’brewing. Oh btw, just my two cents about politics, I think that entertainers should stay away from them as much as possible. Although unavoidable (ahem Dixie Chicks) I think we need to remember the one thing our country is great for, the fact that you/we have a choice. Remember that the next time you bash either side of the fence in our bipartisan world. Yeah it may piss the other side off, but you have the right to choose and that my friends is why I still live here and have not moved to some secluded island with the William Golding, I’m not too keen on conk shells anyhow, they tend to not get washed often.

So enough ranting for one day.

Petesimple

Thinking of the new album and I want to make it interesting. Maybe a new colaboative effort. Not really certain. I do know that the band will be involved and some new sound will be established. However, I don’t know about the invention of how it will work on a timeline. Not yet at least, but soon I will be back in the swing of it. If y’all have any ideas let me know they may make it to the new album.

Slow Slow Slow, I got a small set in last night For Jonathan Dewvall and his wife Melanie. We will miss them, have fun in Cincinnati …..lol yeah I just read the official email looks like you are off to Nashville for “greener pastures”??? I’m not so certain about that one, but I do know Houston will miss you and you will always have a place to play on any stage I play you two.
